Am Sonntag erschien in der französischen Zeitschrift Humanité ein Aufruf einer Versammlung der gelben Westen aus dem ganzen Land. Sie nennen sich Generalversammlung. Das Dokument – siehe unten – ist ausgesprochen intelligent geschrieben und interessant. Es zeigt deutlich, dass es in Frankreich um einen Klassenkampf geht, wie überall übrigens. On Sunday, the French magazine Humanité published a call for an assembly of yellow vests from all over the country. They call themselves the General Assembly. The document – see below – is intelligently written and interesting. It clearly shows that France is about a class struggle, as everywhere else by the way. Here now the call of the first General Assembly of the Yellow West

We, the Yellow Vests from the roundabouts, parking lots, demonstrations and assemblies, met on January 26 and 27, 2019 for a meeting of assemblies. About a hundred delegations responded to the Yellow West call from Commercy.

Since November 17, we have risen from the smallest village, from the countryside to the largest city, against this deeply violent, unjust and intolerable society. We will not let this continue! We rebel against the high cost of living, insecurity and poverty. We want to live in dignity for our loved ones, our families and our children. 26 billionaires own as much as half of humanity, which is unacceptable. Let us share wealth instead of misery! Let us put an end to social inequality! We demand an immediate increase in wages, minimum social standards, allowances and pensions, an unconditional right to housing and health, education and free public services for all.

To this end, we occupy the roundabouts every day and organise actions, demonstrations and debates everywhere. With our yellow vests we speak again, we who have never spoken before.

And what is the government’s response? Oppression, contempt, denigration, deaths and thousands of wounded, the massive use of weapons, shots that mutilate and blind us, wound us and traumatise us. More than 1000 people have already been arbitrarily convicted and imprisoned. And now the new so-called „anti-rioters“ law should also prevent us from continuing to demonstrate. We condemn all violence against demonstrators, both by the police and by small violent groups. None of this will stop us! Demonstration is a fundamental right. Put an end to impunity for the forces of law and order! Amnesty for all victims of oppression!

And what a disgrace, this great national debate, which in reality is nothing but a campaign of the government to instrumentalize our will and our decisions for itself! True democracy is practised in our assemblies, in our roundabouts, neither on television nor in the pseudo-roundtables organised by Macron.

After insulting us and treating us like dirt, Macron now presents us as a fascinating and xenophobic crowd of feelings of hatred. But we are exactly the opposite: we are neither racist, sexist nor homophobic, we are proud to have come together, despite and with all our differences, to build a society of solidarity.

We are proud of the diversity in our discussions, hundreds of assemblies make their proposals and make their own demands. It is about genuine democracy, social justice and fiscal justice, working conditions, environmental and climate issues and an end to discrimination. Among the most frequently discussed strategic demands and proposals are: the eradication of poverty in all its forms, the transformation of institutions (RIC, constitution, end of privileges for parliamentarians…), ecological change (energy security, industrial pollution…), equality and equal rights for all people regardless of nationality (people with disabilities, gender equality, end of discrimination against working-class neighbourhoods, rural areas and overseas territories…).

We Yellow Vests invite everyone to join us, according to their possibilities and regardless of their financial situation. We call for the continuation of the actions (Act 12 against police violence before the police stations, Act 13, 14…), for the continuation of the occupation of roundabouts and the blockade of the economy. We call for a massive and renewable strike from 5 February. We demand the formation of workers‘ committees in the factories, at the schools and everywhere else, where it is necessary, so that our strike can be led at the base by the strikers themselves. Let us take our business into our own hands! Don’t stay alone, join us!
We want to organize ourselves democratically, autonomously and independently! This assembly of all assemblies is an important step which enables us to discuss our demands and our possibilities of action. Let us work together to change this society!

We propose to all the Yellow West to spread this call further. If a group of Yellow Vests agree with us, send their signature to Commercy. Do not hesitate to make suggestions and discuss for the next meetings of the meetings we are already preparing.

It is therefore no longer necessary for the critics to prove this fact; it is in keeping with the statement of the French police. Minister of the Interior indirectly conceded.
